Zoo Tycoon 2 Box made in Blender

Yesterday I modeled and textured a replica of the box for the game "Zoo Tycoon 2." I got it for my birthday several years ago, but I haven't ever opened it. My brother used the new scanner that our family got recently to scan all the different sides of the box, and I used those images on the model. I'd like to hear your comments if you have an opinion about how realistic or unrealistic it is.

An Arctic Escapade

Today I am releasing a video that I made in February of this year, but have kept private until now, just because I felt like it. But now, I feel like making it public. It's your lucky day:

Things worth noting about this film include:

1. I made my own music, using my own notes instead of Mixcraft's loops.

2. I used a "Poor Man's Steadicam" for almost all of the moving shots.

3. It is not complete, and therefore fails in the story department.

So, there you have it. Hope you enjoy watching it.

MVA update

I worked on Mechanics Vs. Aliens episode 6 today. Mostly I was just editing the footage that I shot back in May before things got really crazy. I'm not totally done editing the portions that I had filmed yet. I am also discovering that terrain animation is not quite 100% perfect like I had predicted. It's more like 94% perfect.

No screenshots today. I also didn't do anything else with Blender. Pretty much just editing.

Custom Scenery for MVA

Today I made my first piece of custom scenery that may possibly be used in Mechanics Vs. Aliens.

At first I was just playing around, but this crate actually does look like it would fit into the MVA universe, so I may very well use it.

This is in RCT3:

And this is in Blender:

Cool, eh? Let me know what you think!

Winter Video

My next video to be released will be released to celebrate winter. I made it at the beginning of this year, but it has been set to private for a while. I am going to go public with it on December 1, 2009. It is a live action short film, and like a lot of my videos lately, it really has no plot whatsoever (well, it does sorta, but the video ends abruptly so you won't really get any story out of it).

So, I hope you guys will enjoy it. It's main value is in the visuals; there's lots of neat looking snow shots. Until then, I'll be working on MVA episode 6, and I will probably post an update on that sometime in the coming weeks.

Mechanics Vs. Aliens Stuff

I am glad that people like the Mechanics Vs. Aliens series. Unfortunately, there is obviously a demand for more, and I haven't released an episode in a while, so people are starting to raise their eyebrows. I've gotten a lot of comments about MVA on non-MVA videos lately.

For this reason, I have taken two Mechanics Vs. Aliens clips that I had previously only shown on my blog and put them both into one video on YouTube. Most of the people on YouTube who like Mechanics Vs. Aliens probably haven't seen these, so I figure that they will enjoy watching them (and, maybe they will be attracted to my blog!).

So, without further ado, here is said video:

Running Man

Alright, the new animation is up! It's called "Running Man." It is 40 seconds long. I'll let you watch it, then I'll give you some specs:

This animation took about 1 week to animate, 20 hours to render, and few minutes to edit. Youtube is getting really amazing quality wise. There is hardly any difference between the HD version of this youtube video and the .avi that is on my hard drive.

Speaking of Youtube video quality, I don't know what I am going to do about this 1080p stuff. I mean, I don't have a full HD camcorder, and I don't have a full HD monitor. I really can't produce anything that is 1080p. I guess I'll just live with 720p for a while.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the video. Let me know what you think!

The Blender animation is on it's way

So I stayed up until 3:30am on Friday night finishing the animation, I rendered it on Saturday, and I'm just doing a very small amount of editing and the video should be up later today. Seeya then!

A new Blender animation

Today I finally got the legs on my boxman rig working properly, and I can finally announce this animation that I am doing. It's basically the character from the "Awesome Boxman" video running around and jumping and stuff. I'm not going to be making music for this. Instead I'll be using someone else's music (evil, aren't I?) to cut down on the time it takes to make it. I am shooting for under a week.

Here's a fully rendered frame from the first shot:
Hope you like it!

RCT3 Update

I've been doing some work on the RCT3 machinima that was going to be for the LG machinima contest. It's going pretty well. Mostly I've been working on getting the blue screen to behave properly in my editing program. I also started doing the voices. No screenshots today, just figured that I should say I've been up to something.

A Blender animation

Today I did a real short animation with blender. I feel pretty good about it, especially considering that it took me less than a day to make.

Man, it's satisfying to get something done really quickly.

Hard Core's Film Updates is 1 year old

Happy first anniversary! My blog is now one year old! I've made 60 posts this year, which means that I have made about one post per week. I remember that in my first post I said that I would update "very frequently." I hope that one post per week fits that description. I want to post at least that much again this year. So.....

here......

we.....

go.

Edge of Darkness Promo is complete

Yesterday I uploaded the Crysis video that I have been working on lately.

Unfortunately, there has been some confusion about who I made this for, why I made it, and even if it is my work. First of all: The entire clip is my original work, including the music and 3d text. The reason that it says "Mad Mods" on it is because I made it to promote a mod which is being developed by the mod group "Mad Mods."

So, hopefully now you can watch it without being confused.

More working

I worked on the Crysis video all day today. Like, literally all day. I'm insane.

Anyway, I resolved a glitch. I've been solving about a glitch a day. CE2 can do a ton of stuff, but consequently, it is sometimes extremely hard to get it to do a specific thing you want, since there are so many ways for you to mess up the game logic.

I also added 2 more shots. But no screenshot, sorry.

An update on the Crysis video

Yesterday I got a miraculous amount of work done. I was able to add 4 shots to the sequence. That may not seem like much, but it is if you also take into account that in the past few weeks before Saturday I had only gotten 5 shots done. So now I have a total of 9 shots. The video so far is just over a minute, and I think the whole thing will end up being something like 1 minute and 20 seconds.

Here's a screen shot of one of the new shots:

What is he so shocked about? Well, you'll have to wait till the clip is finished to see!

Yes I'm back! Now back to the Crysis clip....

By the way: HUGE thank you to all of my subscribers!!!!!!!!! I now have 400!

The Crysis clip

I made some OK progress on the Crysis clip today. Check out this screen shot:

In my opinion the Depth Of Field, plus the slightly foggy Time Of Day make this a pretty cool shot.

I am making music for this somewhat short clip, and I also imported my first ever custom geometry into the CryEngine 2 for it. So far I have completed 32 seconds.

This may be my last day to work on stuff until I get back from a trip. The trip is 4 days, so I won't be gone for long, just figured I'd throw that in there.

The new Crysis map

I stumbled upon this pretty neat shot today while I was making the map for the cinematic clip that I am doing for the Mod leader at Crymod.

I hope you like it..... I also hope this clip won't take me forever.

That's all for this post.

A more newsy post than the one below.

An ongoing development has pushed aside my current project. I think I now have more projects on hold at one time than I ever have before. My new obligation is to make cinematics for a Crysis total conversion mod over at Crymod forums. This takes priority over my film for the RCT3 machinima contest (which wasn't gonna make it in time anyway), because I made the commitment back when I released 37 Seconds of Cinematic Win. The day I released it, the leader of this new Crysis mod asked if I would do the cinematics for their mod, and I said "Yes."

So now I will be doing some Crysis movie making, on top of my new film, which is on top of something I haven't told anyone about yet, which is on top of Mechanics Vs. Aliens episode 6. Phew.

Oh, and in some unofficial but related news, today I released 2 short clips from my RCT3 machinima, which I quickly took back down. I was showing them, upon request, to the fore mentioned leader of the mod for which I will be making the Crysis cinematics. A couple lucky people saw them (Ultima9345 and LUCASgProductions, at least) so if you want any info about these shots that I actually didn't want anyone to see, you'd have to get it from them. Because it's unofficial, and I don't post unofficial news. Wait. That's just what I've been doing. Crap.

You know, my thoughts as usual

Every now and then I have to remind myself why I am doing all of this. If I don't keep remembering that I am doing it for myself, not just for a contest, or the gratification of my Internet audience in general, then I can end up going kinda crazy. You see, if all that mattered was making it in time for a contest deadline, or satisfying every single person who watched my videos, then a heck of a lot of the stuff I have made would be worthless. Not every video pleases everyone and not every video makes it on time for whatever deadline I've made up in my head. In the long run, people aren't going to care if the video is a few weeks or months late.

The point is: my hobby is making videos, not making deadlines.

I could do other things besides videos if all that I cared about were the deadlines. The main value of what I'm doing is in the work itself, not in if the work is delivered in a timely fashion. So, just figured I needed to say something like that, because I was starting to feel bad about the pace of my work.

This post brings up a rather amusing fact. This blog is starting to become something of a journal for me. It's not just WIP updates all the time, I also post my thoughts and rants (like now, hehehe). I don't know about you, but I think it's neat in a certain kind of way. It seems to make the blog more personal.

Anyway, rant over.

New update

Unfortunately, a few days ago filming on my entry for the LG machinima contest came to a screeching halt. Not because my computer crashed or anything, but I suppose you could say that I hit a "creative roadblock."

So, instead of continue filming at my new abysmally slow pace, I have been working a little bit on the music for the film, which has not gone too badly.

The worst part about this slow-down is that it's forced me to realise that, if I make it at all, it will be an extremely tight squeeze for the October 3rd deadline. Especially because I am going on a vacation/field trip for almost a week in the middle of September. I feel like total crap about this.... It seems like I always miss deadlines.

A warning about a false website

The other day it came to my attention that a website was using my machinima tutorial as bait for unsuspecting passerby in order to infect their computer with malware/spyware. The website in question (the fourth link from the top) claims to have a "download" of the 1st part of my tutorial:

Do not go to this website. The reason that I know about this bad website is because I went to it myself out of curiosity. Fortunately I use sandboxing to protect my computer, instead of some crack-pot anti-virus crapware. Thus, I simply deleted my sandbox and that was that; absolutely no infection. I urge you to stay away from this site. You only had to visit the page for the malware to start attacking you-I don't even know what would happen if you tried to "download" whatever it was that they were claiming was my machinima tutorial.

A hard-core synopsis of my work today

Made more progress today. I did some shots that required extremely precise timing. One shot took 12 takes, two others took 6 takes. I also made 2 new effects and I'm working on integrating them with some others that I made previously. This amounts to a total of 35 videos recorded.

That was your hard-core synopsis. (because I don't feel like writing much)

Update on the new video

Well I managed to film a few shots today, not as many as I was planning, but overall I am pleased with the progress I have been making lately. Here is a screen shot from part of my filming:

Don't worry, the volcano is only a very small part (this isn't a rip-off of "ERUPTION!" hehe), not really significant at all. In fact, that is why I chose to show it, because I didn't want to show a shot with any main characters or plot details in them.

I guess you could say that I am a good deal through filming it, seeing as how I have recorded approximately 100 videos so far. That doesn't mean that I have finished 100 shots. A lot of the shots have many takes, and some videos got recorded because I used Ctrl+Shift+F11 to slow things down to get timing right.

Anyway, I hope this update is exciting to someone.

New film, new format

I have been working on a new machinima for LordG1gabyt3's machinima contest. I won't say anything about the plot or the set, because I don't want to give it away, but I can give you some interesting information about the format of the film:

I wanted it to be filmed in 1280x720, which my monitor is capable of, however the normal version of RCT3 is not capable of displaying in 16:9. Strangely (and much to my chagrin), even if I forced RCT3 to display in 1280x720, the field of view remained in 4:3. To fix this, I am using a rather dirty method to get wide screen, but I don't think you will be able to tell the difference once I get it onto YouTube. The process is officially called "Vertical Minus" or "Vert-" for short. Instead of setting my screen resolution to 1280x720, I set it to 1280x1024. Then once in the game, I film as usual, with one exception: I have configured the Xfire FPS counter and Xfire clock to block out the top and bottom of the screen, as if you are watching a 16:9 movie on a 4:3 screen:

This makes it so that the middle portion of the screen--which has the dimensions of 1280x720--is proportioned regularly. This does not fix the fact that the video being recorded is still 4:3 1280x1024, but once I get into a video editing program it is easy to cut the top and bottom off.

Usually I would shake my head in disgust at this method, because it simply decreases the amount of the surroundings that you can see, but the more I thought through it the more I have realised that it doesn't matter. As long as I have the Xfire bars letter boxing my screen, I can setup my shots so that they will look correct once I crop the top and bottom off. The end result is a video that is properly proportioned and has the resolution that I want! Pretty cool I think. At first I thought that I would have to buy an expansion pack to RCT3 in order to get wide screen resolutions, but this workaround is acceptable for now.

(Please remember that you do not have to have Xfire in order for this to work. The black bars in the screenshot do not actually make the video widescreen, they are simply a visual aid.)

Correcting a mistake

Hey, I have forgotten to do this for a while, and I just remembered it. The link to the Lazer tutorial that I mentioned a while back was to an .html that didn't have the pictures if you downloaded it. This was a big problem, seeing as how the tutorial relied heavily on the pictures. Luckily, the person who requested the tutorial has already gotten a .doc of it, which will display the pictures correctly. I have just not updated the blog with it until now. Here is a link to the .doc:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/yzzjfzyztzd/Lazer tutorial.doc

I will update my old post to send you there as well.

One more week of hiatus

Here's a quick lo-down:

I am going out of town one more time, so I won't be getting back to any video projects for a little bit longer. Also, now that LordG1gabyt3's contest is going, I really need to work fast, because I will only have about a month after I get back. Personally I would have done 2 or 3 months as the minimum... But I'll just have to work with what I have got. That also means that I won't be working on MVA ep. 6 until after I get back, and after I finish a machinima for the contest.

In short, more delays. But that's summer for you.

A few videos I would like to highlight

Yo people, how's it going? Today I would like to share a few of my favorite new RCT3 machinimas with you.

Before that, however, I would like to do a short update on MVA episode 6. As stated, the episode is officially in production, however I have not started on it in full force yet. Unfortunatley, I probably won't for 3-4 weeks or so, because I have a few vacations coming up. It could be longer than that even, because it sounds like LordG1gabyt3 might hold a machinima contest of sorts and I don't want to miss that.

Now that that is out of the way, here are a few RCT3 movies that I think are worth a look:

ROBBERY! by New023 is basically the same video as JAILBREAK! for the first half, but then has an awesome looking highway scene. I enjoyed it alot even though it's not that original.

North American Earthquake 3 Apocalypse by Julesoogle is a sequal to his last North american earthquake movie, and has a whole bunch of destruction. I composed a lot of the music used in it, so it is extra fun for me to watch it, but I am sure you will enjoy it too.

Finally, 2 acts of the long awaited IMPACT! by LordG1gabyt3 have been released, with the third and final act coming up in a few days.

As far as a review goes... I suppose I should reserve some judgement until the 3rd act comes out, however I will say that I have enjoyed watching it very much so far. It seems like LordG1gabyt3 has been making RCT3 machinima for a long time, but I just realized that IMPACT! is technically only his second film. Thus, I think the most obvious statement to make is that IMPACT! is very ambitious for his second film, and it looks like he has learned a lot from it.

That's all for now.

Laser tutorial

I just finised a tutorial request for a youtuber on how to make the "Laser" effect seen in Mechanics vs. Aliens episode 4. At first I thought I would just send it to him, but I have decided to release it publicly.

I hope it is useful to you, but keep in mind that the tutorial is only for Ulead Video Studi 11.

Even more Blender

Here is another model that I made with blender. Click on it to see it in full res. (1920x1080)

This one took a lot longer than the snowman to render. The snowman took a few seconds, this one almost took 2 hours.

This render reminds me a lot of this Crysis snapshot:

Pretty similar, huh?

New thing

I think that I might start putting an annotation and link for my blog on all of my videos, because it doesn't seem to be generating all that much traffic by itself.

If that is way too annoying then I might not do it, however I will give it a shot.

More Blender

Just been practicing some modelling with Blender. Here's a screenshot:

Pretty simple stuff. This didn't take that long.

Blender

I have just recently downloaded the open source 3D animation software called "Blender." It has some amazing capabilities-it is almost as powerful as the CG software that Hollywood movies use. Over the past 3 days, I have been rendering what might be considered a "right of passage" for learning Blender: a fluid simulation. I call this a "right of passage," because blender fluid simulations are a dime a dozen on youtube. So it's not anything that stellar..... unless you haven't seen any blender fluid simulations. In which case, you can praise me for my incredibly awesome animation skills until you see a whole bunch of videos like mine and realize that they are not anything special.

Anyway, here's the video:

Although at first glance this latest video may seem to be more procrastination, it is in fact a very good thing for you, the viewer (unlike procrastination). You see, the fact that I am learning Blender is a very good thing for you. Using Blender, I can make original models and animations, and put them into BOTH Crysis and RCT3!!!!!!

So, we'll just see how Mechanics Vs. Aliens episode 6 turns out using terrain animation as well as animated CS.

Refreshing

I saw a refreshingly original but not overreaching RCT3 Machinima today!! It was fairly funny in my opinion. So just watch it already!!!

Mechanics Vs. Aliens episode 6 in production

You read the title correctly! (or did you?) Mechanics Vs. Aliens episode 6 is officially in production. Now you can watch the Xfire thingy and keep track of how long I've worked on it! So far I have logged 6 hours. That might not be very incredible, but what I did during those 6 hours is: I recorded the same shot over and over and over again. I recorded it 61 times in a row!!

Now you might be thinking "Wow, that must be a tough shot to get! It took 61 takes?" Well, the fact is that I recorded it 61 times in a row to achieve a very specific effect.
So far as I can tell, this effect has never been performed before. That means I get to make up a name for it! New effect, I shalt dub thee "Terrain Animation."

Yes. Terrain animation. It is pretty much what it sounds like. I am animating terrain. The process, although fairly simple, takes a bit too much time to explain in this one post. I'm thinking about making a topic about it in LordG1gabyt3's RCT3 Machinima forums which you should really check out if you haven't already (It has a new, awesome front page!)

So that's pretty much it. MVA episode 6 is in production and will showcase the first ever (I think) use of terrain animation.

The coolness of messing around on Saturday

At first I thought that I would try to start another Crysis Machinima today, so I got up at 6:00 am and tried to work on something. But nothing would come to me, so I gave up and just messed around today.

A small portion of this "messing around" was making some ToD art using the CryENGINE 2. (apparently I was up to the task of snapping pictures, but not filmmaking).

So, here is what I came up with:

37 Seconds of Cinematic Win

Well, this morning I uploaded my most recent project: a short, cinematic clip with no plot made with the epic CryENGINE 2. I was not expecting a huge response, and I know videos usually get a whole bunch of views upon release and then taper out, but I have been unusually pleased with the response to my short Crysis clip, entitled "37 Seconds of Cinematic Win."

As of 8:45 pm, it has 187 views and 8 comments on Youtube. Even more astonishing than that is a thread that I started on the Crymod forums. It has gotten 8 replies and 140 views!! I am just not used to getting that many views on a thread in a few hours. The thread can be found here:

http://www.crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=47897

And the video, here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJmlDdY15PA

The video is in High Definition, as every Crysis video should be.

Finally the Finale of the Film Festival Fiasco

Alright! The big news is in! Actually it has been for a week, but I was too lazy to post about it until now. I did not win the High school category of the Highbridge Film Festival. The aggravating thing to me is that I do not know who did win. If it is the film I think it is, then I am kinda annoyed, but if it is a better film that I have never heard of before, then I am happy.

Anyway, I am still happy I was able to enter, and I think next year I might even try to rock some socks by entering a Machinima, *gasp* instead of traditional live action (which I found out that I suck at). If you are curious, the engine that I think I might use to cause such a ruckus is the CryEngine 2 (or Crysis, whichever term you prefer). I think that I would be taken more seriously if I used it, seeing as how it looks much more realistic, and I think it might have a tad more potential than RCT3.

But anyway, that is a long way off. Exactly one year, in fact, because today is the day of the Film Festival!! And even though my film didn't make it, my sister is in one of the college films that did!! So I do have something to look forward to after all. Now I just need....

"HardCore7777777 continued to make films for the rest of his life, and lived happily ever after. The End."

Wow. That would make one twisted childrens' book.

Poster

Hey people! I have gotten to make a movie-poster for the film that I am submitting for the Highbridge Film Festival!!!!

I always thought that this would be one of the funnest aspects of submitting a film, and I was right! Here's the poster:

Let me know what you think!

Stinking on ice

Well, my live-action film that I was working on for the Highbridge Film Festival is pretty much screwed.... So I'll just be entering a different video that I have already made. I'm entering "The Destruction of the Beach Family Sand Castle." And, if you want, you can be doubtful, skeptical, think it's weird, and say "And you expect to be competitive with this?" (That's what my Dad just said to me when I told him I what I was entering).

But, to be totally honest, I don't give a flying flip what you think. And, for the record, I never have. I'm doing this as a hobby, which means I can do whatever darn well pleases me, for my own amusement, with no obligations or consequences in any form what-so-ever.

SO FRAK ON THAT, PEOPLE. (I've started saying "Frak" lately)

I'm done with my script

The title pretty much says it. I am relieved that I am done writing it, but I know that it is not the best peice of writing in existence. At least I know my script it isn't as badly written as "Galactic War episode 2."

Beggars can't be choosers, however, so I am simply glad to have it done.

Script update

I have about 6 pages done of my script. I need about 8, so I'm getting close.

Oop, there's the dinner bell, see ya!

Sunday, March 15, 2009

300. No, not the movie.

Hey, everyone! Thank you so much for your support! I now have 300 subscribers on YouTube!!!!

Thursday, March 12, 2009

Oops-I went off on a tangent at the end.

Well, I finally got the background back up. Besides that:

1. I am STILL working on my script

2. The Highbridge film festival's cut off date for submitting films is April 14th

3. There are more RCT3 machinimas cropping up.

I'd like to elaborate on each of these subjects, except number one, which... doesn't really need to be elaborated upon. Anyway, not only has the film festival's cut off date been announced, but they have an entire new website to go along with it. Check it out here.
I also realized something that I said in an earlier post was wrong. I don't know how I got the idea into my head that the Highbridge Film Festival was an international film festival. In reality, it is limited to students at Asbury College (and high-school students). Sorry for that misinformation.

So, about the RCT3 machinimas. I guess I'll make a list of some that have come up recently (including one that I have mentioned before).

In reality, there are a few more than these. I am highlighting these because they all have something in common... a certain theme. It's all "us vs. them" machinima, eerily similar to Mechanics Vs. Aliens. I bring this up is because even though I want to inspire people to make RCT3 machinima, I want them to create something truly unique. Something from their own imagination. Just because one formula works out well for one person doesn't mean you have to copy their formula to be successful. Unfortunately, in the realm of all machinima, (outside RCT3) There is a truly MASSIVE amount of videos, and would-be "series" that all have a common ancestor (and no, I don't believe in evolution). That ancestor would be Red vs. Blue. It would be a shame to see a stagnant pile of lame, copycat series of Mechanics Vs. Aliens, just like Red vs. Blue. It's cute at first, but... seriously. Don't let it happen.

I would like to point out that there is a serious irony to all this. In the very, very, teeny tiny beginning, Mechanics Vs. Aliens was itself a rip-off/spoof/emulation of Red vs. Blue. Hence the "us vs. them" theme. However, I feel that it has taken it's own independent style over time, and is not currently a spoof of anything.

Ok... that was a serious tangent. I hope that you get what I mean.

This is just to get this picture up again. It was deleted by my old file hosting service. So I ditched them.

Working Title

Ok, I've got a working title for my script. I'm thinking that I will call it "Conspicuous Solutions, Inc." Cool, eh?

What?

Yeah... I know its just a title.

Well, I haven't really written that much.

No, I am not making a spoof of CSI!

WELL, SORRY!!!!! I'M JUST TRYING TO MAKE A FLIPPING POST!!!!*Y&!*^*!!^!&!^!%$!&

Project agenda

Well, since my latest project is going slowly, there is not much to update about it, so I figured I would give a list of projects in the order that I intend to do them:

Highbridge Film (in progress)
Crysis crash montage
Crysis machinima (not a series-just a stand alone film)
Mechanics Vs. Aliens episode 6
Another live action film (maybe)
Mechanics Vs. Aliens episode 7

Well, I hope you like that arrangement, I'm sorry if you feel that there isn't enough Mechanics Vs. Aliens. I do have some information about it though: I don't think there will be many more than 10 Mechanics Vs. Aliens episodes. I am looking at somewhere between 9 and 11 episodes... so 10 is a pretty good ballpark figure.

As the film festival looms ominously closer.....

Well, I know that you can't tell, but I uploaded that half-film a while ago (Feb. 6) and forgot to post about it. Anyway, it doesn't matter much to whoever is reading this, because it is set to private and only 2 people besides me are able to see it on YouTube. Since I am now starting over, I once again have that awkward emptypagephobia that makes it really hard to write a script.

So, besides that, sorry for not posting anything for 20 days. I'm really inconsistent with this blogging thing, aren't I? Would more of you read my blog if it was more consistent? Unfortunatley, I can only guess what you might reply to that, because the only person who ever comments here is LordG1gabyt3!!! (Which I do appreciate, but I would also like to see this blog grow a little).

I guess that's it. Bye.

Two things

I have now made the songs used in MVA episode 5 available for download. I'm doing this mainly because I can do whatever I want with them, because I made them. Consider them in the public domain, i.e. you may use them for any purpose, private or commercial, free of charge. This includes everything from just listening to them, to using them in your own videos, to burning them to a CD and selling them for profit. If you do any of this, I would be happy to know, but don't feel obligated to tell me about it.

Besides that, I attempted to make a short film last week, but I felt like it wasn't turning out very well, so we stopped half-way through. I will, however, edit and score the footage that we got, so that I can learn from it and get better. I will be uploading this half-finished short film, but it's going to be set to private, and I probably won't keep it up for very long.

That's about it. Sorry for not posting anything for a month.

An.............. update.

Alright everyone, I haven't posted anything recently because I have been enjoying my Christmas presents too much (the best of which is an Nvidia 512MB 9800GT, which runs Crysis quite nicely on high). But now it is time to start thinking about my next project.

I mentioned the Highbridge Film Festival in an earlier post, but I guess I'll talk about it some more. It is a film festival held at Asbury College, and I think it is technically international, but it's not like you get people entering from Canada or new Zealand or anything. Anyway, I am planning on submitting a film for the high-school category. The festival is mainly College films, though; there is only one high-school film that is shown to the audience. That film is the winner. So, that means that whatever I enter may not even be shown, but... whatever. I'm still entering. And even if my film doesn't make it, you'll be able to see it on YouTube.

So, that's pretty much it. I still have yet to think of a brilliant, visionary idea, much less begin writing a script. Nonetheless, I will try to get the ball rolling on this soon.
