MVA update

I worked on Mechanics Vs. Aliens episode 6 today. Mostly I was just editing the footage that I shot back in May before things got really crazy. I'm not totally done editing the portions that I had filmed yet. I am also discovering that terrain animation is not quite 100% perfect like I had predicted. It's more like 94% perfect.

No screenshots today. I also didn't do anything else with Blender. Pretty much just editing.

Custom Scenery for MVA

Today I made my first piece of custom scenery that may possibly be used in Mechanics Vs. Aliens.

At first I was just playing around, but this crate actually does look like it would fit into the MVA universe, so I may very well use it.

This is in RCT3:

And this is in Blender:

Cool, eh? Let me know what you think!

Winter Video

My next video to be released will be released to celebrate winter. I made it at the beginning of this year, but it has been set to private for a while. I am going to go public with it on December 1, 2009. It is a live action short film, and like a lot of my videos lately, it really has no plot whatsoever (well, it does sorta, but the video ends abruptly so you won't really get any story out of it).

So, I hope you guys will enjoy it. It's main value is in the visuals; there's lots of neat looking snow shots. Until then, I'll be working on MVA episode 6, and I will probably post an update on that sometime in the coming weeks.

Mechanics Vs. Aliens Stuff

I am glad that people like the Mechanics Vs. Aliens series. Unfortunately, there is obviously a demand for more, and I haven't released an episode in a while, so people are starting to raise their eyebrows. I've gotten a lot of comments about MVA on non-MVA videos lately.

For this reason, I have taken two Mechanics Vs. Aliens clips that I had previously only shown on my blog and put them both into one video on YouTube. Most of the people on YouTube who like Mechanics Vs. Aliens probably haven't seen these, so I figure that they will enjoy watching them (and, maybe they will be attracted to my blog!).

So, without further ado, here is said video:

Running Man

Alright, the new animation is up! It's called "Running Man." It is 40 seconds long. I'll let you watch it, then I'll give you some specs:

This animation took about 1 week to animate, 20 hours to render, and few minutes to edit. Youtube is getting really amazing quality wise. There is hardly any difference between the HD version of this youtube video and the .avi that is on my hard drive.

Speaking of Youtube video quality, I don't know what I am going to do about this 1080p stuff. I mean, I don't have a full HD camcorder, and I don't have a full HD monitor. I really can't produce anything that is 1080p. I guess I'll just live with 720p for a while.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the video. Let me know what you think!

The Blender animation is on it's way

So I stayed up until 3:30am on Friday night finishing the animation, I rendered it on Saturday, and I'm just doing a very small amount of editing and the video should be up later today. Seeya then!

A new Blender animation

Today I finally got the legs on my boxman rig working properly, and I can finally announce this animation that I am doing. It's basically the character from the "Awesome Boxman" video running around and jumping and stuff. I'm not going to be making music for this. Instead I'll be using someone else's music (evil, aren't I?) to cut down on the time it takes to make it. I am shooting for under a week.

Here's a fully rendered frame from the first shot:
Hope you like it!
